The Washington County Free Library and Teens Have Choices are partnering with over 20 other local youth agencies and organizations to give teens a fun evening with free movies, prizes, and entertainment—along with a little information and awareness.
Just Teens! will be held on Friday, October 25, from 3:30-9:00 p.m, center court at the Valley Mall. Activities will be geared toward middle and high school students, and parents are encouraged to attend and participate.
Activities at Just Teens! will focus on keeping teens safe, healthy and smart when faced with difficult choices: drinking, smoking, finances, eating healthy and exercising, and practicing safe sex or abstinence. Teens participating in these interactive, informational events will be entered in a raffle to win a Kindle Fire and other prizes. In addition, the first 200 teens to complete activities in each of three zones will be given a free movie voucher to Regal Cinemas or a Dairy Queen gift card.
Just Dance! is a dance competition sponsored by the Washington County Free Library in the spirit of Teen Idol. Watch as local teens “Just Dance” to win $500. Just Dance! starts at 7 pm.
This year, organizers will be emphasizing the theme “It’s cool to ask for help.” Too often, when young people experience troubles – including feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood – they don’t know where to turn to for help or how to find someone they can feel safe talking to. The goal is to encourage teens to understand when and how to seek help and to highlight the many resources that exist for teens in Washington County.
