Speak Stories

The first concert in this series will feature Suzi Whaples. Suzi blends Appalachian myth, Legend and culture together with stories of her life, family life and some- even larger than life stories.  Suzi has been fatured at the National Storytelling Festival and the INternational Storytelling Center.

 

10% of ticket sales from this concert in the series will go to the Shepherdtown Caring Cupboard.

Speak will take place on Tuesday Spetember 9th at 7:30pm in the Shepherdstown Community Club War Memorial Building.  Tickets are $10 in advace and $12 at the door. Advanced tix can be purchased at Four Seasons Pooks, at www.speakwv.org or reserved at 304-886-9481.

4th Annual Relentless Golf Classic Benefiting Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

 

Help Sponsor the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

On Friday, September 12, 2014, the 4th Annual Relentless Golf Classic will be held at The Links at Challedon. This is a 4 person scramble of 18 holes of golf.  The cost is $80 per person or $320 per foursome.

There will be an open driving range before te-off. Donuts, bagles and coffee during registration (beginning at 7:30am). Hot dogs will be avialabe at the turn.

1st and 2nd place teams; 4 closest to the pins; and 2 longest drives, will be given prizes.

There will also be a raffle where you can enter to win great prizes as well as a 50/50 putting contest which the winner will erceive 50% of the putting contest entry fee.The Cost to enter the putting contest is $5.

The Great Grape Race at Elk Run Vineyards

This Great Grape Race is a series of three 5K  trail runs/walks in local vineyards followed by a tasting of the vineyard's libations, music and a picnic.  

Proceeds from the event benefit the March of Dimes' mission to improve infant health by preventing premature birht, birth defects etc.

Participation in the race includes admission to the Vineyard's Fall Festival, including wine tasting, music, and food vendors. Enjoy beautiful scenery and wine, music and food!  All registrats of a single event receive an event shirt.  This event takes place rain or shine!

Benefit Car & Truck Show

The 22nd Annual Alzheimer's Association Benefit Car & Truck Show will be held at the Frederick Motor Vehicle Administration and hosted by the Heart of Maryland Classic Chevy Club.  The Show is open to all makes of cars & trucks.  Gates open at 8am.  Car registration and spectator admission are by donation to the Alzheimer's Assocation.  It will feature an auction, trophies, awards, door prizes, dash plaques, a moon bounce for the kids, raffles, music vendors, shell gas card giveaways and more!  For info go to www. 6th Annual Headless Horsemen 5K

Come out for this annual Halloween event! This event normally has about 400 runners and is sponsored by the Frederick High School Girls Cross Country Team.  All of the proceeds will go to help support their team events. 

Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes to the event. This event wil include medals for all 1K runners and trophies for winners of the 5K run.  Costume awards will also be presented. 

The Marine Corps Color Guard will perform durnig National Anthem and many sponsors will have tables set up.  Food will be provided by Moe's. 

 

Check in begins at noon, the 1K run will begin at 1:30pm and th 5K run will begin at 2pm.
