Williamsport Lions Club Golf Tournament

Mountain Stride 2014

The 2nd Annual Mountain Stride Cross Country Run and Walk will take place on Saturday, April 26th at the Bar T Mountainside in Urbana Maryland. The cross country course is approximately 4K in distance and a 1K fun run/obstacle.

Bring the family and enjoy the annual spring fest!! There will be food, music, a craft center, face painting, zip lining and a scavenger hunt!

The Cross Country 4K ($25/per participant) will begin at 8:30 am.   The 1K  Fun Run & Obstacle Course ($15/per participant) will begin at 9:30am.

A portion of the Mountain Stride proceeds will go towards funding Bar T's partnership with the Frederick Department of Social Services (DSS).

There will be prizes for the top 3 overall male/ female runners and awards for the top 3 runners in each age group.

MS Walk-Hagerstown

The Walk MS-Hagerstown takes place at 9 am on Sat., April 26th at the Philadelphia Brigade Monument. There is no charge to walk, but participants are encouraged to raise funds to help support research and MS programs. Researchers at Hopkins and Maryland are working on new treatments and better understanding of contributing causes, such as understanding the role of Vitamin D.

Arbor Day CommuniTree Planting

SEO is hosting the annual Arbor Day CommuniTree Planting on April 26th. This event has a great impact on our community, water, and soil. 24 trees have been granted to Shepherd through CommuniTree, and Dr. Plautz has contributed 10 additional evergreens.This event is important to me because trees play such a vital role in our water and air quality. They also help keep our dirt healthy! We are looking for volunteers to meet at University Drive off Shepherd Grade Road in Shepherdstown, WV at 11AM. There will be Dunkin Donuts coffee and donuts for all volunteers!

Beat the Heat Racing Challenge

CAN YOU BEAT THE HEAT? The Beat the Heat Racing Challenge is May 3rd at Mason Dixon Dragway. Come out and learn to drag race and then race the cop or firefighter of your choice. Drive- In drag day so licensed and insured STREET cars and motorcycles only. Our kids love their cars, motorcycles, and driving - but need instruction to keep that love healthy and safe. This is a great experience for young drivers and car lovers of all ages - open to age 16 and up. Street racing is not drag racing - street racing is illegal and dangerous. Drag racing - happens only at a NHRA/IHRA drag strip, under safety rules, and with emergency services present. It is not necessary to have a fast car - this is bracket racing so any car can be used to win ( with an awesome driver).

The Banner School is holding both a 5k and 1 mile fun-run to help raise money for the school. Proceeds go to keeping tuition in reach for all students. Hagerstown Hopes is the first family-friendly annual LGBTQ event in Hagerstown. We feature food, live entertainment, and local small businesses. Our goal is to help promote equality for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation. There are hundreds of LGBTQ individuals living in the Hagerstown area, many of whom have no place to turn. Poker Run Metric Century

Cyclists will ride a predetermined route throughout Jefferson County, drawing a playing card at each card station. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the ride. St. Jude 5k Run/Walk for the Cure

The third St. Jude Run/Walk For The Cure is being held on August 2nd.

The run is going to be a scenic 5k loop around Baker Park starting promptly at 8am and is open to the general public. Music will be playing the entire time to help get you pumped up, and to keep you pushing all the way through to the finish line, where there will be delicious refreshements waiting for you!! Every runner and walker will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win some exciting prizes!!!

Strollers and Headphones are welcome however, no pets will be allowed along the route.

The Frederick Clustered Spires High Wheel Race

Come watch America’s only High-Wheel (Penny Farthing) bike race in historic downtown Frederick. This will be a unique 1-hour race featuring riders of antique or replica high wheel bicycles that were popular in the 19th century. Come and celebrate the history of bicycles! 4th Annual Relentless Golf Classic Benefiting Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

 

Help Sponsor the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

On Friday, September 12, 2014, the 4th Annual Relentless Golf Classic will be held at The Links at Challedon. This is a 4 person scramble of 18 holes of golf.  The cost is $80 per person or $320 per foursome.

There will be an open driving range before te-off. Donuts, bagles and coffee during registration (beginning at 7:30am). Hot dogs will be avialabe at the turn.

1st and 2nd place teams; 4 closest to the pins; and 2 longest drives, will be given prizes.

There will also be a raffle where you can enter to win great prizes as well as a 50/50 putting contest which the winner will erceive 50% of the putting contest entry fee.The Cost to enter the putting contest is $5.
