6th Annual Headless Horsemen 5K

Come out for this annual Halloween event! This event normally has about 400 runners and is sponsored by the Frederick High School Girls Cross Country Team.  All of the proceeds will go to help support their team events. 

Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes to the event. This event wil include medals for all 1K runners and trophies for winners of the 5K run.  Costume awards will also be presented. 

The Marine Corps Color Guard will perform durnig National Anthem and many sponsors will have tables set up.  Food will be provided by Moe's. 

 

Check in begins at noon, the 1K run will begin at 1:30pm and th 5K run will begin at 2pm. 

Come out and enjoy the fun!!

The Great Grape Race at Distillery Lane Ciderworks

The Great Grape Race is a series of three 5K walk/runs in local vineyards followed by a tasting of the vineyard's libations, music and a picnic.  


Proceeds from the events benefit the March of Dimes' mission to improveinfant health by preventing premature birth, birth defects etc.

This race is in the orchard and will require runners  and walkers to  pay attention to what they are running on.  Enjoy the beautiful scenery, wine and food! 

All registrants of a single event receive an event shirt.  

This event will take place rain or shine. You can register at www.active.com

This event is also part of the Burkittsville challenge, which includes The Spook Hill Cider and Wine 4 Mile Run.

Family Fest 2014

Come join ICW at Family Fest 2014 where we are going to get turned up and all cranked for Jesus on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 7:30pm, at the JBK theater on Frederick Community College campus. Featuring Naitonal Recording Artist John Bucky Tillery, Walk By Faith Go- go Band, Body of Evidence Go- go band, Levictical Psalmists, The AJ Wilson group, Kingdom Worshippers, and some of the areas finest choirs, dance ministries, mime artists, ensembles, and etcs. We will also have a talent show to win DMV's Finest which will be judged by celebrity judges. First place will receive a cash prize. The talent show and concert are two seperate entrys and all proceeds go to Deacon Jerry Calhoun Scholarship Fund to benefit high school seniors with single parents. Not to mentiion it will include face painting, food and non- alcoholic beverages. Come out and participate in this fun- filled family event. Boy Scout Troop 23 is hosting a Holiday Bazaar on November 1st from 9:00 - 3:00 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, W. Baltimore Street-Funkstown MD. An Evening with Claire McCardell

Come enjoy the fun at the Historical Society of Frederick County as they host "An Evening with Claire McCardell".

"An Evening with Claire McCardell", is an exciting exhibition featuring original designs from the exlusive McCardell collection at the Historical Society of Frederick County.

This event will be a joint exhibition in partnership with the Carrollton Manor Daughters of the American Revolution, beginning on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 and continuing through Sunday, November 16th, 2014.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 am through 4 pm. A private wine and cheese reception will be helpd from 4 pm- 6 pm. which will include a presentation on the significance of McCardell's legendary work in American fashion.

An interesting part of the exhibition will be the "downsizing" of a McCardell design to fit an American Girl Doll.  The downsized dress will later be donated to the National Daughters of the American Revolution 2015 National Junior Doll Project Fund, which encompasses a variety of special needs programs and scholarships at DAR approved schools.

"The Wonder of Christmas" Concert

The National Christian Choir invite you to "The Wonder of Christmas" concert performed by the 170 auditioned voice choir, the NCC Children's Christmas Choir and a full ocrchestra!

This event will be held at Immanuel's Church and will include two performances.  The first performance will take place at 1 pm, followed by a second performance at 5 pm.

Welcome to the old-Fashioned Pancake Breakfast with homemade treats!  

The menue includes pancakes (Oatmeal, Buckwheat, and Buttermilk), Scrambled eggs, sausage, Home fries, biscuits, pudding, suasage gravey, stewed apples, hominy and hot and cold beverages.

Mother Seton School Fall 5k Run/ Walk

On November 8th at Mount Saint Mary's Waldron Stadium come join us in a 5k Run/ Walk in the scenic Catoctin Mountains. The 100 meter Kid Dash starts at 8:50 am and the 5k starts at 9am. Onsite registration 7:45am - 8:45 am. Register by October 31 and receive a free tee- shirt. The 5K is $25 per adult 18 & over, $15 w/ college ID, $15 under 18 and the Kid Dash is $5 per child (age 7 & under). Over the Mountain Studio Tour

The Over the Mountain Studio Tour, foun ded in 1989, is celebrating it's 25th year of creating stellar fine art and crafts.  There are 22 current members total over 500 years of collective experience.  The Studio Tour invites visitors to travel through Jefferson County to 8 studios. 

Open studios can be visited in Shepherdstown, Keraneysville, Leetown, Charels Town and Shenandoah Junction.  Handmade items for sale include basketry, pottery, wooden toys. hand-hewn wooden making, jewelry and stained glass.  At Craft Works at coool Spring, items include: polymer clay, colored pencil drawings, needle artistry, mixed media wall pieces and decorative gourds.
