Bringing the community together since 1983.
For over 40 years, In The Streets has been a proud Frederick tradition held along Market Street and Carroll Creek Urban Park.
The festival began in 1983 after major renovations closed Market Street for several months. When the dust settled, Mayor Ron Young decided to hold a festival for the entire community to encourage reinvestment in downtown Frederick.
The celebration was held directly in the street, making the name simple: In The Streets.
The first In The Streets festival welcomed approximately 10,000 attendees. Today, the event attracts crowds of more than 75,000.
